Chaffinch Jr executive vice president of The Denton National Bank has been named to the board of the Development Credit Corporation of Maryland to fill the seat of J McKenny Willis Jr bringing the board to 15 directors. John J Ghingher president and vice chairman of the First National Bank of Baltimore announced the appointment which adds an Eastern Shore representative alongside W Tracy Holland of Union Trust Co Salisbury on the state wide body.

Caroline Nan Found Dead in Boat Monday
Fred Everett Blades, 64, of Choptank, Maryland, was found dead aboard his drifting boat in the Choptank River Monday after apparently suffering a heart attack while inspecting nets. He was located southwest of Preston with his head and a shoulder over the boat. Dr. Harold Plummer ruled him dead at the scene. his wife noted a three year history of heart issues.

Chicken Festival Set for Salisbury in June
Howard Wilson of Salisbury will chair the 16th annual Delmarva Chicken Festival sponsor Delmarva Poultry Industry Association announced. The event June 13 14 and 15 hosts the National Chicken Cooking Contest finals at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center auditorium. Wilson is vice president of Tri County Gas Co and former president of the Salisbury Junior Chamber of Commerce Delmarva Gas Association and Heart Association of the Lower Eastern Shore.

State's Attorney Disposes of Several Court Cases
On the Wednesday in Circuit Court for Caroline County Chief Judge J DeWeese Carter imposed sentences for multiple cases. James H Hamilton Jr and Robert Lee Faulkner received terms to the Maryland House of Correction with probation on related larceny counts. Claude Simms Jr had a six year sentence suspended and probation set. Additional sentences and charges were handed to George L Stevenson Carl Milligan and others with extradition hearings scheduled for January 24 before Judge Carter.

Farmers who grew corn grain sorghum or barley in 1959 or 1960 may sign up Feb 1 through March 22 for the voluntary 1963 feed grain program. Highlights include a single feed grain base, a 20 percent diversion requirement, capacity limits on bases, diversion payments, price support payments, and loans and purchase agreements available only to participants.

Vehicle crashes on January 15 and 17 involved drivers Floyd Aden and Ida Vanderborght, with charges of reckless driving and extensive vehicle damage.
