A $500000 blaze destroyed Xion Methodist Church in downtown Cambridge last Sunday, threatening nearby businesses. Firefighters battled flames from rooftops. a firefighter, Carlton Dayton, 40, sustained minor burns. The church had burned once before in 1910 and was rebuilt, with a rededication two years ago after an $80000 improvement plan. Nearby fire units aided after the Cambridge jumper truck failed, and Zion congregation plans to meet temporarily at the National Guard Armory. The Christian Comrade Class of Concord will hold a meeting January 12 at 1:30 PM at Mrs Reba Wheatley’s home with several hosts assisting.

Three Burglaries Here Last Weekend
A series of burglaries occurred last weekend at Stafford's Market, Nuttle Lumber Co, and two camp cars on a siding. Articles and some money were stolen. The burglars even took food from the camp cars and Stafford's. No arrests have been made.
