Hail Century Anniversary Services Across Churches
Religious events mark the old and new year with night services and lectures. In Ridgely St Pauls Reformed Church hosted a century themed program featuring Amanda Saulsbury F. P. Herr M. L. Weaver Annie Stevenson and Rev E L Coblentz. Denton M E Church held talks by Swann Lewis Thawley Wickline Roa Wright and others followed by open testimony. A parishioner received gifts including a gold watch and a No 2 typewriter, with silk dresses for Mrs Mowbray and daughter Agnes. Christ Church held watch night services ringing in the New Year. Officers for the ensuing year were elected at another church. Methodist Protestant Sunday School celebrated with a Christmas program and Baltimore preacher Meginniss scheduled to speak tomorrow.

Rival Telephone Enterprize Targets Peninsula Market
Maryland and Delaware Telephone Company, a Baltimore capital venture, will acquire the Queen Anne’s Rail Road lines totaling about 120 miles and absorb franchises in Rehoboth and other towns. Exchanges will be built in multiple communities, with an outlet via Wilmington. The Baltimore Maryland Company backs the move, having invested heavily and owning Wilmington’s system. Work to start immediately, upgrading lines with metallic circuits and adding new routes. Montauk Ladies Quartette performs Saturday night January 26.

Mr. Charles Wesley Clark of Williston died December 28 from heart failure in his 75th year. A native of Caro County, he lived all his life there, built substantial property, and was known for generosity.
