Hughes Proposes Local Board Controls Senatorial Scholarships
Sen Harry R. Hughes filed Senate Bill 301 to transfer final award of Caroline County Senatorial scholarships from colleges and admissions committees to the Caroline County Board of Education. The board would receive the finalists’ exam results and financial need data, then make the final awards, aligning with local, nonpolitical oversight. In most counties, final scholarship awards already rest with the state senator or district official.
