World Rotarians To Meet In Boston

The twenty fourth annual Rotary convention will be held in Boston Massachusetts from June 26 to 30 with representatives from sixty countries expected. President Clinton P Anderson of Albuquerque calls clubs to serve the world and unite for optimism, faith, mutual helpfulness and courage. The event spans five days with plenary sessions, informal conferences, and discussions on international business practices tariffs and trade barriers. A drafting committee led by Dr Crawford J C McCullough prepared administrative changes for action in Boston following Seattle 1932.

County Firemen Elect Officers At Preston Meeting

J Raymond Charles was elected president of the Caroline County Firemen's Association succeeding W Johnson Bonner. New officers include vice president W B Poore secretary Jacob O Williams treasurer Robert Dulin with an executive committee of J W Porter Charles Hammond A W Saulsbury William Finn Marc Bryant Reese Dean, representing member companies from Denton Greensboro Ridgely Preston and Federalsburg.

Denton Club Hosts Maryland Federation Women Officers

State officers of the Maryland Federation of Women's Clubs visited the Denton Community Club to present programs on American citizenship. Speakers included Mrs. Rudolph S. Allen on Build for Better Citizenship, Mrs. John L. Whitehurst on National Legislation, Mrs. Calvin Gabriel on Taxation and Government, and Mrs. Alphonso Boley on Law Observance. The event, arranged by Mrs. D. Wilson Davis, featured luncheon at the host home with club members as hosts.

Rotary Celebrates 28th Anniversary Worldwide

Rotary marks its 28th anniversary with celebrations in 3500 plus cities worldwide. John J. Gimgher Named Maryland Bank Commissioner

Governor Ritchie announced the appointment of John J. Ghingher as Maryland bank commissioner to succeed the retiring George W. Page. Ghingher, 40, of Denton, previously Baltimore Trust vice president and comptroller, would be paid $10,000 annually, up from $4,500, upon approval by the Finance Committee.

Salisbury Wins in Fire Prevention Contest

An international committee of judges named Salisbury first and Hagerstown second in Maryland for fire prevention effectiveness. The awards come from the National Board of Fire Underwriters, based on Fire Prevention Week reports from cities.
