County Agent Gives Talk On Benefits of Agriculture

On Friday February 12 Mr Gen W Clendaniel addressed the Seniors on opportunities in agriculture sharing that farming, while small, can build character and wealth. The talk touched on science, plant improvement, spray methods, and the need to pursue a clear life goal in farming.

Diversion Of Motor Vehicle Tax Opposed

Mr Geo A Doinin chairman of the Traffic Committee of the Grand Jurors Association spoke on WFBR about Maryland road finances. He warned that about 5 million dollars of motor vehicle taxes were diverted last year and that 20 million over four years has harmed road building. He outlined four main diversions including state budget, Baltimore City, the national gasoline tax, and local allocations, urging action by Governor Nice, Mayor Jackson, and the Legislature.

Goldsborough Says Wars To Big Bankers

Representative T Alan Goldsborough told Hurlock Woman's Club that international bankers and the metropolitan press control the message of peace and fuel war. He warned of a Wall Street banker complex and said another war would require youth drafts. Estella Leonard of Cambridge led Dorchester in gathering signatures for the People’s Mandate opposing war.

Maryland Farm Bureau group outlines farm policy plan

Maryland Farm Bureau legislative committee chair P. C. Turner of Baltimore announces a detailed policy package to be presented to the legislature. The plan supports state income tax and keeps selective taxes, opposes gas tax diversion, seeks real estate levy elimination by legislative means, backs soil conservation via the University of Maryland extension service, and calls for stronger farm product grading, beetle controls, and poultry theft laws.
