C F E Wise Jr Maryland Farm Bureau secretary reports at Pasadena meeting delegates pressed for national program continuation and revision to ensure farmers gain a fairer share of national income. They backed a managed currency tied to basic commodity prices, urged continued soil conservation administration, and favored delaying gas tax road fund diversions while improving market roads. Federation membership rose by over 70 000 to more than 350 000 with Illinois Iowa New York Indiana and Alabama among leaders.

Federalsburg Flood Control Hearing Highlights Local Losses

Federalsburg held a flood control hearing with about 700 attendees after a two and a half hour business suspension. Col. E J Dent opened the meeting with a film of the flood disaster and outlined federal policies on right of way and maintenance. Attendees included Rep T Alan Goldsborough, local officials, county agents, and residents from Federalsburg, Dorchester, and Kent counties. Reports estimated town losses over 500000 in property and business, plus about 1000000 in railroad damages.

Alfalfa and Clover Seed Care Urged by Maryland Farmers

Maryland farmers are urged to choose alfalfa and clover seed carefully for 1937. Seed supplies are below normal nationwide, with imports rising. Holmes of the Maryland State Seed Laboratory warns against using imported alfalfa and red clover seed, notes home-grown seed testing is free, and suggests alsike clover or a mixture as safer alternatives.
