Wilmer Fell Davis Heads 1961 Heart Fund Campaign

Wilmer Fell Davis of Federalsburg will chair the 1961 Heart Fund Campaign for the Heart Association of the Upper Eastern Shore. The drive runs in February across Caroline Cecil Dorchester Kent Queen Annes and Talbot Counties to fund cardiovascular research and public education. Davis brings long service to the organization including previous Heart Fund leadership roles and community positions.

Denton National Bank directors elected Dr. Dawson O George as president and James R Chaffinch Jr as executive vice president and cashier after the death of longtime president J Roland Chaffinch. George, a physician since 1912 and a bank director since 1928, will chair the board.

Nativity Story concert at First Church Denton Sunday

On Sunday evening December 18 at 730 o clock First Church in Denton will present The Nativity Story a musical program with Scripture readings. Three church choirs Junior Intermediate and Youth directed by Carman Leggett Bennington and Walter Palmer Jr will perform separately and together. Rev O G Brewer Jr pastor will deliver the readings. A violin solo The Holy Season by Fat Bennington and soprano duos by Beverly Tow ers and Betty June Sutton accompany the program drawn from The Heavenly Child Childe Jesus and carols public invited to attend.

Maryland Driver Licenses to Be Renewed Every Two Years

John R. Jewell announces a new law effective January 1 1961 requiring Maryland operators licenses to renew biennially by birth month and year odd or even. Applications mailed to January odd-born holders with licenses over one year old, with $2 fee and no notary. Misleading statements on the application are a misdemeanor. Full instructions and return envelope to accompany each application.

Second Judicial Circuit Gets Another Judge

Governor J Millard Tawes appointed Geo B Rasin Jr to the second circuit bench created by the 1960 General Assembly and approved by voters. Rasin a Kent County Democrat and State Senator since 1956 will serve Cecil Kent Queen Annes Caroline and Talbot Counties until the 1962 general election with a potential 15 year term thereafter.

Mrs. Margaret Carroll Dies In Philadelphia

Margaret Carroll formerly of Denton died Tuesday December 13 at her daughter Edna Flynn’s Philadelphia home. She was 102, former Miss Margaret Vining Toughes of New Castle Delaware. Survived by daughter Oscar Flynn’s wife and two grandsons Jack and Billy Flynn, plus nephews Carroll George and John Emory. Funeral Saturday at 2 pm Moore Funeral Home with Rev Otho G. The State Police report covers a week of incidents. Dec 7 near Federalsburg a Rosser vehicle struck a deer causing about 150 dollars in damage. Dec 11 a Denton area crash involved a Atlantic City driver, multiple injuries, and a suspect who fled. Dec 11 near Harmony two drivers caused 125 dollars in damage with no injuries. Dec 11 near Greensboro a two vehicle collision caused 200 dollars in damage with no charges due to weather. Dec 9 a man from Jonestown was arrested for larceny. later tried and fined fifty dollars and thirty days in jail.

Bishop Miller to Visit Greensboro Church Christmas Service
