Santa Claus Day Draws 1200 Kids In Denton Saturday
Denton hosted Santa Claus Day last Saturday with about 1200 children from town and nearby areas enjoying a free screening of cartoons at Den tonia Theatre. Santa rode a fire engine to the firehouse where he distributed candy stockings and apples after a parade of "Christmas Secrets." The event was organized by the Denton Chamber of Commerce, the Denton Volunteer Fire Company, and the Den tonia Theatre, with perfect weather boosting turnout. Santa Claus Day is planned to return in 1961.

Burglars Sentenced to Two Years Each in Local Case
On November 23 the Caroline County Circuit Court sentenced David Luke Holden and John Bernard Holden to two years each for breaking and entering and larceny from a Denton filling station. James Theodore Murray received six months for assault and battery near Catonia Theatre. Murray may face a robbery intent finding and was ordered to Patuxent Institution for evaluation. Several minor fines were imposed by local magistrates during the week.

Week of State Trooper Activity Reports Several Incidents
The State Police log for the past week details multiple incidents near Denton Oil City and Easton Hospital. A 27 year old man and a 24 year old man were involved in a two vehicle collision on Route 404 480 with $875 in damage and a charge for following too close. A second two vehicle crash on Route 313 317 at Oil City involved a 69 year old Germantown PA resident and a 56 year old Denton resident with $325 total damage and an improper turn charge. A 14 year old shot his 15 year old sister in the abdomen with a .410 shotgun while loading for rabbit hunting. The victim was hospitalized in critical condition. An investigation is underway Nov 29 at the new Southern Caroline High School where property was stolen from Hallock Construction Co.

Two Children Hit By Car On Gay St
On Saturday afternoon November 26 a car driven by Artis Virginia Truxon traveling west on Gay Street Denton struck 8 year old Gregg Jarrell and his 4 year old sister Sherry as they tried to leave their curb at 207 Gay Street. Gregg suffered internal injuries and was rushed to Easton Hospital while Sherry had a minor forehead cut. Charges were filed against Mrs Truxon for reckless driving. No trial date was set. Police also arrested three for disorderly conduct over the weekend.
