Tricks With Rayons To Make Rayon Dresses Look New
Miss Helen Shelby of the University of Maryland Extension Service advises on rayon garment care and a gelation finish. Gelatin solution prepared from two tablespoons gelatin soaked in half a cup cold water and dissolved in boiling water is dipped into washed rayons, squeezed, rolled in a towel, then hung to dry before pressing. Wash rayons in mild lukewarm suds, rinse twice, avoid soaking and heavy rubbing, then dry on hangers away from heat. Use a moderately warm iron, test on an inside seam, and iron lengthwise to protect bias cut pieces.
