Poison Ivy Inflammation Varies by Sensitization States
Dr Lester Hollander of Pittsburgh explains that poison ivy dermatitis affects only sensitized individuals. First exposures may not cause dermatitis, but repeated contact builds sensitivity, triggering blistering, swelling, and skin inflammation after 4 to 10 days, with duration dependent on severity and treatment. Immunization with plant extracts is suggested by some practitioners, with injections most popular.

Radar Aids Weather Studies From WWII Echoes
Radar and radio direction finding now serve weather research at Imperial College London. Since early World War II, ghost echoes detected storms, and radar can map thunderstorm location, extent, intensity, speed, and direction within a 100 mile radius. A September 1 1945 hurricane near a radar station yielded new storm insights. Pilot balloon observations now track weather through all cloud layers with robot observers.
