Land Reserved for National Forests in White Mountains and More

The national forest reservation commission approved purchase of 48,481 acres for national forests in the White Mountains Southern Appalachians and Arkansas. The White Mountains hold 31,022 acres across Carroll and Grafton counties New Hampshire and 1,220 acres in Oxford County Maine at an average price of 7.15 dollars per acre. The areas include Mount Chocorua and Mount Pagus, popular with tourists via trails maintained by the Chocorua club.
