After a year under Federal control the Bell Telephone System properties are returned to owners. Wartime labor shortages and material reallocation slowed commercial service, though Government needs and war demands were met. The system now faces a race to rebuild and raise service levels to prewar standards as demand outpaces supply.
Clover Lee, visiting Aunt Mary, meets Captain Gordon, an old army friend of the aunt. They bond during a snowed walk, share tea, and confess mutual affection. Aunt Lucy reveals the romance, and Clover and Gordon admit their feelings as the family approves.
