Chestertown defeated Denton 10 to 9 in 10 innings while Greensboro shut out Rock Hall 3 to 0. Chestertown's win featured late scoring before extra frames and Denton pushed back with a ninth inning rally that ended in a ten inning tilt.

Chestertown Baseball Club edged Denton 10 to 9 in 10 innings after Denton surged to a 5 0 lead, then Chestertown rallied with 6 runs in the fifth. Miles relieved Hughes in the 10th. Chestertown won as the winning run scored with two singles to start the inning.
Denton Cattle Exchange adopts a six point inter com system to speed service. The new system promises quicker locating of any person on the grounds and reducing steps for customers and buyers.
The 29th Division Maryland National Guard plans a five day postwar encampment at Camp Ritchie Maryland starting Sunday the 17th. About 1 790 guardsmen will move by truck bus and rail from home stations across the state, with Sea ford and Elkton routing for eastern shore units. Special trains and 70 trucks from Second Army will aid movement and medical and logistical details are arranged.
Farmer members of Southern States Farmers Supply will share a 1.6 percent patronage refund for 1946–47 based on purchases. More than 129 farmers and families gathered at Caroline High School in Denton for the local cooperative meeting. Directors elected included Richard Garey and Geo Wood of Denton. New Farm Home Committee members were Mrs. C. W. Allen and Miss Annie Voss. Les Rigler announced 1946–47 operations exceeded $81 million in services with about $1.59 million net savings. most was returned to patrons. Frank D. Zeigler was elected president of the board. Detailing the meeting, Turkington led song service and Rev. Turkington gave the invocation. Raymond J. Cross, 67, a former Ridgely resident, died at Crozer Hospital after a heart attack. he leaves a widow, eight children, and several grandchildren.
Twenty two Caroline county 4-H Club girls attended Club Week at the University of Maryland and earned blue and red ribbons for sewing cooking and canning. Notable blue winners include Martha Anne Ziegler and Genevieve Poore with showcases in dress and clothing judging. Red ribbon recipients cover needlecraft dairy demonstrations and vegetable and cake projects with Martha Anne Ziegler Verna Crouse and Charlotte Ann Lister named among top performers.
About fifty Maryland Tidewater press editors and publishers toured the bay aboard the state yacht Pocomac. They observed nets, oyster and crab operations, dived into fishery talks with U S Wildlife Service and Tidewater Fisheries experts, and visited Tilghman Island packing plant, Solomon's Island laboratory, and various oyster beds. The voyage highlighted challenges facing Chesapeake Bay resources and concluded with an open forum on fisheries issues.
The 26th Annual American Legion Auxiliary Maryland convention met August 6 to 10 at the Lord Baltimore Hotel Baltimore with 475 delegates. Denton representatives from Caroline Unit 29 included Mrs. C E Roberts who was elected historian for Maryland, and Miss Patricia Pine of Denton who was named Governor of Camp Free State at Ft George G Meade.
Private First Class Richard F. Behlke of Denton Maryland helped aboard Lightning Maru II rescue twenty-one soldiers from Kushimoto Wakatsuma Prefecture Japan. The men, from the 27th Infantry of the 25th Infantry Division, were stranded with little food and water after floods. Sea rescue succeeded after land attempts failed due to washouts, delivering food and water to exhausted troops.
A surprise birthday party for John C Trice on July 29 at his Smithville home featured many guests. The event honored Trice with music from Ernest Gererdi and others and refreshments of ice cream and cake. Lois Ann Butler celebrated her eighth birthday with a party at Mr. Marion L Butler’s Tuckahoe Neck home, with games and gifts for the young hostess.
