Democrats Announce Campaign Workers for Caroline County

Charles E. Hadaway named campaign chairman and released a slate of assistants for Caroline County Democrats. Jesse C. Smith will register eligible voters, George W. Beck Jr. will prepare a county headquarters, W. Stewart Fitzgerald will build a voter list, Lacey Orme will handle campaign funds, and W. A. Stewart Wright will coordinate publicity.

Southern States To Meet At Armory August 18th

The Southern States Cooperative annual member meeting for the Denton area will be August 18 at 8 p m at the Armory. The program includes election of local board and Farm Home Advisory Committee members, operations reports, a slide presentation by F B Collins on 1959 60 operations, and remarks by Kenneth Shaffer as chair. Rev Otho G Brewer Jr will give the invocation and Miss Phyllis Leesee will lead group singing. John G Jarrell will report on local operations. Nominees for local Southern States positions are listed in the notice continue on page 8.

State Troopers Active In Caroline County Traffic Report

State Troopers logged extensive activity in Caroline County during July and early August. The report lists multiple traffic incidents with locations such as State Route 404, 328 and 313, dates July 20 to August 9, including collisions, injuries, and charges for driving offences. Christmas in July at Camp Todd with Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts at Camp Todd near Denton held a July Christmas celebration in the dining hall with a six foot tree, Danish ornaments, and gifts made from natural materials. Units represented Holland, France, Denmark, and Mexico with carols, dances, pinatas, and a Mexican hat dance. Other sessions included a Shenandoah hike, primitive camping, and starry-night sleepovers as younger Baden-Powell-inspired activities continued.

Ted Miller Rally at Nagel's Pond Saturday Night

Friends of Ted Miller will gather at Nagel's Pond near Harmony on Saturday evening August 13 at 7 30 to meet him. Enrollment At Denton School August 16 and 17

Enrollment for all school age pupils not previously enrolled will be held at the Denton School at Fourth and Randolph Streets from 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday August 16 and 17. The enrollment covers kindergarten through grade 8. Pupils already enrolled need not enroll. New students and those new to the community or not previously enrolled in kindergarten or first grade should enroll now.

Bids Sought Again for Caroline County School Project

Bids are invited again for the South Caroline School with plans available at the Denton Board of Education office. Bids open Tuesday August 23 at 4 p m. The project, part of a $3 million construction program, aims to house Federalsburg and Preston area seniors near American Corner, with occupancy planned for fall 1961.

4-H Club Week At University Of Maryland Opens

State 4-H Club Week on the University of Maryland campus features more than 1 100 4-H members from all Maryland counties. Leaders Woodrow Adkins and Richard Heavner head tribal activities, with tribal meetings, sports and recreation. Maryland Trails editors are Jane King and John Scarborough, with a large Trails staff listed by county.
