Circuit Court Recesses Till June Eighth

Three men, Johnnie Truxon, Paul Nichols and Enoch Pritchett, were sentenced to five years each in Maryland penitentiary after guilty verdicts for assault with intent to rob Hillsboro merchant George Ford. Two Ridgely men, Bryan Turbitt and Harvey Barnum, received six and nine months respectively for breaking and entering and larceny. Accomplices Meeks and Cohee got six months. All stolen items recovered. Court adjourned to reconvene June 8.

Eastern Shore Association elects officers and backs road control

John Baker of Dorchester County was reelected president of the Eastern Shore Association of County Commissioners at a Elkton meeting attended by all counties except Worcester Somerset and Talbot. Officers include Lawson Tosh as vice president and F H Vincent Jr as secretary treasurer. The body voted to return dirt road care to the counties and urged allocation of gasoline tax funds, while State Senator Harold Coburn favored county road control and local relief solutions.
