Clean-up Day Boosts Caroline County Beautification Effort

Saturday marks 4-H Clean-up Day under the Corne J IT Council with 4 Hers and residents urged to clean homes and communities of trash during Keep Maryland Beautiful Week. The KRIG committee promotes student participation and adult crews on private properties, with County and State Roads departments joining efforts and retailers supporting reduced roadside litter.

Blood Bank Board Seats Named for Eastern Shore

Caroline Countians George Clendani2l Denton W Edwin Unger Federalsburg and Sheldon O Louis Greensboro named to the Blood Bank of the Eastern Shore board The Blood Bank serves over 11 000 families on the Eastern Shore and has supplied more than 1300 pints of blood to its members Membership costs include a $2 join fee and $1 annual dues.

Rain Doesn’t Scare Democratic Women Luncheon

Rain failed to dampen the spirits of over a hundred attendees at the American Legion in Denton for a Democratic Women’s luncheon on April 7. Guests included delegates O B Blades and James A Wise, and candidates for national and state offices spoke briefly before a Legion Auxiliary luncheon.

Award Totals 1295 75 In Child Injury Case

In Caroline Circuit Court an award totaling 1295.75 was given in a settlement involving a seven year old girl. The court awarded 30 to Trida wing and 1.29585 for her mother, Mrs. Elaine PD against Mrs. Ela Peersen of Greensboro. The incident occurred on June 7, 1961 when a car struck a sidewalk at the Talbotown Shopping Center injuring the child.

Loyalty Day events planned in Denton Teaston

C. Wilson Irwin of Denton former Department Commander to lead Loyalty Day activities May 2 sponsored by FE PL Streets Memorial Post Teaston. A 3 p.m. dinner at the Post Home on Glebe Road Eas ton followed by a 6 p.m. parade. Norman Irwin will supervise feeding of military personnel. Loyalty Day is the veterans groups alternative to May Day celebrations.

To Be Speaker Francis Holsinger principal of North Carolina High School will join a group of educators to discuss contributions of physics teaching to humanistic education at the Chesapeake Section Conference of the American Association of Physics Teachers on Saturday at Washington College.

Caroline County Tuberculosis and Health Association 1962-63 Review

The Caroline County Tuberculosis and Health Association reports a busy year with a mobile X-ray unit in the county May 22 to June 5 totaling 1546 X-rays, 41 volunteers, 13 follow-ups, no new TB cases, and a Christmas Seal drive totaling $3597.32. They funded posters, X-ray schedules, patient care, clothing for hospital patients, subscriptions, an educational campaign, and a nursing seminar, while planning evening clinics and health education materials for schools.
