High School Career Day Program Set

The 14th annual Career Day for tenth and eleventh graders from Col. Richardson and North Caroline High Schools will be held at North Caroline line, Denton, on Thursday April 9 at 10 00 a m. A general assembly will be followed by 45 discussion groups covering 41 occupational fields with speakers from vocational professional and industrial sectors outlining prerequisites and job details.

Denton C of C seeks veto on Sunday bill in Anne Arundel

Denton Chamber of Commerce urged a gubernatorial veto of House Bill 8. Telegrams were sent by the Town and County Commissioners after chamber representatives warned the measure could disrupt Maryland blue laws and create unfair competition for merchants on the Eastern Shore. The bill would allow large discount houses in Anne Arundel County to stay open Sunday, potentially drawing county shoppers across the bay.

Denton Chamber Seeks To Continue Miss Denton Pageant

The Denton Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday urged the Denton Rotary Club to revive the Miss Denton selection for the annual Miss Delmarva Pageant. The Chamber argues a reigning Miss Denton should be chosen even if committee selection is used, and proposed Rotary form a committee to contact candidates and make the final choice.

Historical Society Spring Dinner Program Completed

The Caroline County Historical Society announces its Annual Colonial Dinner in Ridgely on April 16. Milo M. Naeve of Winterthur Museum will speak on Early American Glass, with a colonial reception at 6:00 p.m. and a dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are sold by local directors.

Library Award Set For Sunday in Ridgely affair

Denton Plans AFS Weekend To Welcome Foreign Students

The American Field Service Committee led by Francis L. Holsinger maps future activities for Denton. A March 24 meeting outlined an AFS weekend in April inviting about seventeen foreign students to stay with local families. North Caroline High School hosts activities including a dinner and talks by visiting students, with support from the Student Council and PTA. Proceeds from a recent production aid the effort as Denton seeks broader reception of foreign guests. The North Caroline PTA closes the year with an April 8 meeting and officer elections for all North Caroline parents.

Keep Maryland Beautiful kicked off with county beer retailers joining Caroline County in a roadside clean-up drive. Licensees will provide trash receptacles educate patrons and urge disposal of empties. Mrs Mildred Kern lauded the support and noted one licensee led a personal cleanup removing a truckload of cans.

Greenstoro Junior Miss Easter Parade Winner

Marie Gianninato nine year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Anthony Gianninato of Greensboro won first prize in the Easter parade for girls under 12 at Rehoboth Beach Sunday afternoon. She wore a light blue coat and hat with blue flowers. She was the only Maryland winner and received five dollars in cash.
