Meadowbrook shadowed romance and a wavering Jim Fielding
Jim Fielding visits the MacPhersons in Meadowbrook after leaving college. He contends with an aching urge for a simpler life with Dolly while tangled with Cecily and Susan Vaughn. Tommy, a restless youth, asks Jim to retrieve love letters from Dolly, risking exposure of a web of affairs in Cherry Hollow's theater and Dutch’s roadhouse.
