Artificial Breeding Cooperative Planned in Caroline County
The County Agent outlines a possible artificial breeding cooperative this year if sufficient interest exists. Dairymen face low odds finding suitable herd sires and a 1000 cow minimum is needed to start. Interested parties should contact the county agent for details. Pastures can cut grain use for hog feed with rape and soybeans favored. Caroline’s foreign worker quota will be under half of 1946 in 1947, with no Bahamian or Jamaican workers in 1948. Applications for workers run April 5 to 19, with a $30 compliance guarantee per worker. A new 4-H Club was organized April 1 at Andersontown. Dallas Neal will lead, bringing the county’s clubs to five.
