A Remarkable Blind Man of Aseneca County Story
A lengthy portrait of Charles Gaines born near Byen in Wyandot County whose life as a blind man is marked by extraordinary sensory powers and a tumultuous marriage to Medora Sprague. The piece covers his early tragedy, development of heightened senses, temperance advocacy, violent episodes, and eventual arrest for murder after a string of alcohol fueled crimes. It also includes a separate earthquake report from Texas to Arizona with widespread damage and volcanic rumors.
