The treasurer’s office in McArthur will collect taxes from October 6 1871 to December 20 1871. Unpaid taxes incur penalty and one half due by December 20 triggers full collection. Road tax receipts must be written in ink with amount in figures and words and include township name. Richmond Vinton County Ohio.
A narrative sketch by Elder Ernest Lisle recounts Joseph Smith as founder born in Vermont in 1805, visions at fifteen, translation of the golden records, church organization in 1830, persecutions in Missouri and Nauvoo, martyrdom in Carthage, and westward exodus to Utah under Brigham Young. It covers 1847 Utah entry, 1848 temple fire, polygamy revelation in 1852, and notes Utah’s later growth and loyalty under leadership, with scattered local notices on Ohio politics and regional events.
Thirty seven divorce applications are currently pending in Franklin Common Pleas, described as a "good many too many" by observers, signaling mounting caseloads at the court.

The Lebanon Patriot reports a family dinner in Lebanon County with six Corwin members Matthias Richard Joseph William Ichobod and Benjamin aged 62 to 79 all residents except one visiting from Illinois. The item also notes remarks by Dr Hawes about the West and politics and other local curiosities about age births and babies named Ulysses Grant.
In Uoshocton County residents cast 3,114 against and 1,188 in favor of levying a tax to fund a new Court House, marking a clear voter decision on the project.
