Stabbing After Fierce Fight Near Rock Run Home

A man received a knife wound after a fight at a country home near Rock Run along the Susquehanna River Sunday. Nelson Knight of Level, brother-in-law to Harford County Sheriff Reese Bowman, was rushed to Havre de Grace Hospital. Knight had spent the day along the canal and river, stopping at Curley Hall’s place. a fight ensued with Hall and his wife aiding Hall. Hall fled before the sheriff arrived.

M. I. Church Holds Annual Picnic Plans on June 22

Members of the Christian Endeavor of the Delta Methodist Protestant Church met on the Bilis lawn for a special business gathering led by president Abna Macomber. Prayer by Howard Harvey, with recitation and solo by Mrs. Henry Ellis and music by the boys quartette. attendance listed many families from Delta area.

Pen-Mar Baseball League Beats Taylor In Whiteford Showdown

The Pen-Mar Baseball League game at Whiteford ended 5 to 1 as Nelson McNutt excelled on the mound limiting Taylor to three hits. Stanley Lloyd starred with a home run, a double, and a single in four trips to the plate plus six assists. A spectacular bare handed catch by A. Lloyd on a line drive highlighted the defensive effort. The contest lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes. Whiteford hosts Jarrettsville in a doubleheader on Saturday, June 17.

Memorial services hold at Slate Ridge cemetery

The annual Memorial services were held Sunday afternoon June 11 at 3 o'clock in Slate Ridge cemetery. The program included music by a male chorus, readings by Rev. A Lewis Byde, an original poem by Samuel Gard, musical performances by local groups, a roll call by S. W. Holden, and an address by Rev. Everett De Verde. 29 interments were noted in the past year.

Children’s Day Pageant at Slate Ridge Church

The Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church observed Children's Day on Sunday morning June 11 at 11 o'clock. The program featured prayers, hymns, a diploma presentation to cradle row graduates by Mrs. J. M. Wherner, and a pageant "The Temple of Childhood" with roles for Dorothy Kilzore, Graham Thompson, Beryl Wyman, Gloria Roberts, and Margaret Scarborough, directed by coaches Mrs. Ralph Davis Mrs. Gerald Heap and Mrs. Clark Gailey.

The Ladies Missionary Society of Slate Ridge Church met at Mrs. J Walter Stewart's Whiteford home with assistant hostess Mrs C A Wallace. O H Heaps led. Mrs Floyd Wyman sang Oh Alaster Let Us Walk With Thee. Discussions covered Porta Rica Philippines and West India by several members. A poem was read, a stewardship program presented, business covered, benediction given, refreshments served, and attendees listed. The next meeting will be at Miss Ruth and Ance Thomas's home.

Wife Allegedly Shoots Husband in Darlington Homicide

Lonnie Mick, a 50-year-old former businessman and sportsman, was found dead from two bullet wounds near his Darlington home. His wife Janice Mick, 38, was arrested after a coroner’s jury found her responsible. She claimed self defense after he attacked her at their garage on Friday night.
