Corn and Hog Plans From County Agent's Office
The Office of the County Agent outlines emergent hog marketing results and future corn and hog control plans. The program moved about 31 million dollars to farmers and removed millions of hogs from markets, while delivering 100 million pounds of pork to relief efforts in over 40 states. It also faced processing limits for small pigs, yielding inedible grease and fertilizer tankage, with some dried tankage stored for government use. A temporary hog plan aims to cut 600 to 700 million pounds of live pork from fall and winter markets, boosting hog prices 20 to 30 percent. A long term corn and hog adjustment program is slated for December 1st, with a new County Control Association to be formed and farm education campaigns modeled after wheat efforts. Farm Bureau meetings and township drive managers are listed with participants and attendees.
