After-Prom Party Planned At Delphi Country Club
Parents of Delphi High School juniors and seniors announce an after prom party for those attending the junior senior prom at Purdue. The Delphi Lions name Mrs Mina Tansey of Soldiers Home Hospital Lafayette Indiana the Cheer Club member of the week. Confined to the hospital for eight weeks after a severe heart attack she remains on the critical chart and will celebrate her birthday May 16. Land Purchased for Delphi Little League Baseball Field
The Delphi Little League bought land from Roger Mayhill near the Hamilton street bridge north of Deer Creek levee for a regulation diamond with bleachers and parking. About fifty boys and several adults led by Myron Beesley and Ty Welch prepared the ground, with doctors scheduled to examine players and issue numbers for practice, and contracts to be signed by boys, parents, and the league president.

Oracles Win Conference Title in Hoosier Meet
Coach Norm Ebbite's 56 member Oracle track squad won the Northern State Conference meet at Knox and earned the conference all sports trophy for basketball football and track. Delphi placed first with 63 44 points followed by Morocco Rensselaer Knox North Judson.

Legion Plans to Add Second Story to Building
The American Legion board authorizes a second floor addition to its Front and Washington streets home. The project, drawn by a Lafayette architect, is expected to cost over $25,000 and includes a large auditorium with stage, lounge, rest rooms, kitchen, two picture windows, and brick construction. Entrance will be on Front street and a contract will be awarded after minor revisions are completed.

Tragic Lightning Strike Kills Lorena Jackson in Burlington Woodlands
Lorena Myer Jackson 35, wife of M. E. Jackson of route 2 Monticello, was killed instantly Sunday afternoon during a mushroom hunting trip near Burlington. A lightning strike hit the tree under which she stood with her father, Exie Myer, injuring him mildly. The couple leaves five children and were members of Flora Grace Brethren Church. Funeral services were held at the Grace Brethren church in Flora with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Monticello.

Rev Manker to retire in June after 36 years in ministry
Rev O P Manker and his wife will retire from active ministry and move to Delphi. They bought the Broadrick property on Union Street for their home. Otterbein Methodist Church will honor them on Sunday May 20 with worship at 11 a.m. a 12 30 basket dinner and a 2 30 program. Attendees should bring a covered dish and table service and those present at 2 30 should bring written greetings for the Book of Beautiful Memories. The Mankers lived in the community from 1927 to 1931.
