Adams township misses entry as eight teams compete with Camden Flora and Hawkins expected to star amid county excitement and a large crowd anticipated. Indiana teams will participate in 52 elimination tournaments to crown the state champion.
Lafayette boxer Bobby Blake was stopped in the second round of the Golden Gloves Finals Tuesday night, losing a disputed decision to Sam Guidara of Chicago. Blake, noted as Lafayette’s lone winner among lightweights, had earlier defeated Jack Dempsey of Dubuque in his first bout.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Sheagley 78 of Delphi were held at the Delphi Methodist church with Rev. Wilbur Day officiating. She died after a long illness at her home. Survived by husband William, son Harry of Indianapolis and daughter Mrs Della Mullendore of Delphi. Interment in Masonic cemetery.
Gene Beck of Burlington announces he seeks the Burlington township trustee post on the Democratic ticket. Beck, currently township assessor, is described as a respected township citizen and is the second to declare candidacy for the office.
