2 4 D helps weed corn in spring fields
Harold Berry explains that 2 4 D will control most broad leaf weeds in corn but cannot replace plowing. Spraying should use amine 1 to 1 pint or ester 1 2 to 1 over ten gallons per acre when weeds are small. For wild cucumber mix equal parts 2 4 D and 2 4 5 T at to pint per acre. Use drops or sprayer just as cucumbers begin to climb. Cultivation mainly controls weeds and improves soil creation and water intake on heavy soils. Avoid deep cultivation that harms corn roots.
