Dr Edgar F Kiser of Indiana University spoke to the Oracle Club on Judaism detailing Jewish origins worship and common religious goals He condemned Hitler anti Semitic acts and emphasized shared values across faiths.
Dr C Crampton has been appointed to the Indiana State Soldier s Home Committee by State Commander A W Army Armstrong. The four other members are Arthur Schnaible Lafayette chairman Mrs Beatrice Shephard Lafayette Omar Cottrell Brookston and Ralph E McNeely Fowler.
Ticket sales for the Jackson Day Banquet are rising sharply with prospect of the largest crowd ever, per Margaret Afflis vice county chairman and ticket gates chair.
Robert Bowers age 67 died at eleven oclock at his home in Colburn. Funeral services will be Friday morning at 12 oclock at the A B Church Colburn with the pastor officiating. Burial will be in Colburn Cemetery.
Word arrived of the death of Mrs. Louise E. Gruber a former Delphi resident at her son's home in Buffalo New Jersey The body will be brought to Delphi for burial for Citizens subscription
Tuesday evening about five o'clock four men driving a Chrysler sedan stopped at the Delphi Motor Sales to make a telephone call. They stated that their car had broken down coming from Rochester and that they had borrowed another car to continue a trip to Illinois. Someone became suspicious of the men and notified officers, who investigated. The car was left at the Ford garage, but the occupants departed taking the license plates with them.
The People’s Building and Loan Association of Delphi is admitted to the Federal Home Loan Bank System as a member and stockholder by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis. City council approved a local plan to eliminate radio interference. Mayor Wells named a three member committee to start work and a static finder will be obtained to locate trouble sources. Coupons from the Citizen were handed to the council to help trace origins.
Mathias Furrows aged 84 died at his Burrows area home Saturday morning following a heart attack. A lifelong county resident, he was active until his death. He leaves his widow one daughter Mrs. Lillie Benner at home three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Religionist or medic Guy Dick of Delphi asserts he has proof of mysterious healing abilities and plans to establish an office in town this spring to practice his method.
The Oracles travel to Greencastle to face the Tigers Friday night in a matchup recalling last year's two point Greencastle win at the armory. Grimm is expected to start after a full recovery and Coach Lostutter names his strongest lineup for the road game.
Otis George aged 38, farmer near Camden, died Sunday morning after a brief illness. A World War veteran, he is survived by his wife, a son, three daughters, his parents, J. and Mrs. Walter George, and two brothers Frank and Mharlow. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Camden Baptist Church with Rev. W. A. Bender officiating. Interment followed at Paint Creek Cemetery. His brother Thurlow was reported critically ill at home.
The 1934 Chevrolet is now on display at the Clawson Chevrolet sales room and invites the public to inspect the new model. Several buyers have expressed confidence by placing orders before seeing it.
A new Rock Creek Township Grange was organized on Wednesday night with thirty charter members. Charles H. Brough was elected master, Dorothy Brown lectur er, and Clara Brough secretary. A meeting is planned next Tuesday night for additional officer elections.
Ray Gochenour opened a new dry cleaning shop on South Washington Street. The Royal Garment Cleaners of Frankfort will perform all cleaning with pressing and preparation completed at the local shop.
William C. Smith, dean of the Delphi bar, was the first to register under the new voter registration law. He registered Saturday morning in the clerk’s office. Smith has voted in the county since 1882, casting ballots in every election for fifty two years.

Mr and Mrs Paul Burns and two children of Flora were injured when their car left the road near Moran Indiana and overturned in a ditch. Burns was blinded by headlights. Mrs Burns sustained a dislocated shoulder and one child suffered a severe head cut. All four were cut and bruised while returning home from Frankfort.
Funeral services for Viola Z Bell 70 were held Wednesday at Leiter funeral home with Rev. Aschenhart officiating. Interment followed at Maple Lawn cemetery. Survived by two sons Charles Flora and Harry Dublin Indiana three sisters Mrs Amos Zell West Middleton Mrs Matilda Decker Ohio Mrs Marion Cook Kokomo three brothers Rev Walter Hartman Flora Joe Indianapolis Albert Iowa three grandchildren and one great grandchild Mrs James Hembrough Logansport. The Civil Service Commission will hold an exam for the Flora Post Office postmaster in Delphi ind. Applications must be filed in Washington D C by February 2 1934. Salary is 2100 dollars with veterans preference limited to submitted proof. Competitors assembly date shown on admission cards.
John H Hamling was elected president of the County Tuberculosis Society at its annual banquet in the Methodist church. Officers named include Dr A Smith first vice president Yanus Wells second vice president Mrs Howard Bradshaw secretary and Mrs William Afflis treasurer. Dr R G Block of the University of Chicago Medical School spoke on early diagnosis and X ray to stamp out tuberculosis. Murray A Auerback introduced Dr Block. Musical numbers by the McCain trio. Rev Harry Parker offered prayer. Rev Rist presided. Mrs Block and Mary Roanna Headlee accompanied Dr Block to Delphi.
A meeting of former Liberty Mutual Insurance Company policy holders is scheduled for 7:30 Saturday evening at the Court House to discuss a procedure in the suit filed by the company to obtain additional premiums. All former policy holders with filed claims are expected to attend.
A misreported arrest last week identified Chipries Vaughn for failure to comply with a court order. The individual actually arrested was Arthur Vaughn of Logansport.
A Tippecanoe county jury of eleven farmers and two alternates, including Albert D. Moore and Charles F. Marx, is selected to hear the murder case of John Wesley Wilson. State prosecutor Ambrose Mayfield opened by calling the act one of the most obnoxious crimes in the area.
Civil Works Administrator Harry L. Hopkins orders wage and hour cuts for government work programs. Hours drop from 30 to 24 for most staff and clerical supervisors fall from 39 to 30, with pay rates unchanged. The move aims to stretch funds until new Congress appropriations are made and the program may end by May 1.
Spencer's Variety Store will close here within a few days after an announcement this week. The 5¢ to $1.00 store has operated in the area for five years with Paul Baylas as manager for three. James Goff, owner of the Golf 5 and 10c Store, has purchased the fixtures.
Rev. Paul L. Beck announced he will resign as pastor of Delphi Baptist Church effective March 15. He will pursue evangelical work with no definite plans yet. Beck becomes the fourth local pastor to resign in the past year among Delphi area churches.
Ross Reed son of Willard Reed and Agnes Long will marry tonight at the Delphi Baptist church. Rev. Paul Beck will perform the ceremony. The groom is a Delphi High School graduate and currently a student at the Delphi.
