The Arthur Bradshaws Now Touring Mexico

Delphi to Open Happy Day Children’s Home Soon

Cottage Street Church of Christ members plan a small private children’s home on Cottage Street in Delphi. An experimental 24 month project will be supervised by a director board with the minister as superintendent and fundraiser. Eight to ten children will be housed with house parents, using donated materials and volunteer labor.

County Treasurer Mailing Tax Statements to Townships

The county treasurer’s office has begun mailing about 15,000 tax statements. The first recipients are Jackson Township and Camden, followed in order by Madison, Clay, Adams, Rock Creek, Liberty, Washington, Carrollton, Deer Creek, Delphi, Tippecanoe, Jefferson, Yeoman, Burlington, Democrat, Monroe, and Flora.

More than 425 attended the Delphi Bakery grand opening last Saturday with eleven prizes given away. New hours listed show Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday until 9 p.m. Closed all day Monday.

Indiana Senator Vance Hartke announced Delphi and its postal staff earned the Postmaster General’s Citation for Excellence for superior maintenance and care of the Delphi facility. Mrs. Neal Flora and Dick Leiter co chair the Carroll County blood bank. The Flora Methodist Church hosts the mobile unit Monday March 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. donors are desperately needed as the county falls short of its quota of 125 pints. Announcement was made in all county churches.

Marie Myer Will Probated In Tippecanoe Circuit Court

The will of Mrs Marie Frisbie Myer of route 3 Lafayette was probated in Tippecanoe Circuit Court after her death at Fix Nursing Home Delphi on February 8. She left real and personal property valued at about 25000 to Delphi Presbyterian Church and Hanover College trustees in a will dated February 10 1953 with Robert S Justice of Logansport named executor.

Two Dead in Wednesday Crash in Delphi Area

Final rites were held for Morris Kirby 52 of Delphi route 1 killed in a two car crash on State Road 25 near Delphi Wednesday night. Survivors include his wife Rose Marie 40 and three sons. Trooper Dale Douglass 35 was injured. Mrs Kirby later died. Additional injured: William 15 Arthur Joe 11 Thomas Eugene. Kirby was Monon Railroad employee WWII veteran Mt Zion Methodist Church member. Burial at Masonic Cemetery after service at Cornell Funeral Home.

One Dead In Pyrmont Accident

A two car head on crash on Dayton Road half a mile north of Pyrmont at noon Wednesday left one dead and two seriously injured. Charles Myers of route 2 Lafayette died at Home Hospital. His wife and Rev Herbert LePage were seriously injured and hospitalized. Investigating were Sheriff James Coghill and State Trooper Tom Pitstick.

Newell Accepts Armco Scholarship for Engineering

Richard Newell son of Mr and Mrs Kenneth Newell route 4 senior at the local high school accepted the Armco Civil Engineering Scholarship. He plans to enter Purdue University in the fall.
