William Yerkes 68 Dies in Clinton County Home
William Yerkes aged 68, longtime Camden resident, died Tuesday morning at his daughter Mrs Ethel Wrattan’s home in Michigantown Clinton County. He had lived with his daughter for years and was blind for the last three. Surviving are two daughters Mrs Wrattan and Mrs Ruth eet rick of Boyleston, two sisters Bert Downham and Miss Clara near Deer Creek. Funeral will be at Paint Creek church east of Camden Thursday at two o’clock with burial in Paint Creek cemetery.

President elect Franklin D Roosevelt was unharmed after an assassination attempt in Bay Front Park Miami. Chicago Mayor Cermak was wounded in the chest and rushed to a Miami hospital in serious condition. A shooter named Joe Ziri gara of New York was taken into custody and reportedly said he would kill all presidents. Several others were wounded including New York detective Sinnott Newark’s Miss Krews and Mrs. Gill of Miami. Roosevelt postponed his New York trip and visited the wounded before departing.

McCain Home Fire Claims Family and Chicks in Cold Blast
A McCain family house fire on a 19 degree below zero morning destroyed the two story frame home and its second floor and basement contents. Mr and Mrs McCain and eight year old Harriet Sutter battled the blaze while freezing conditions delayed help. Six hundred baby chicks burned as neighbors formed a bucket brigade but the house proved beyond saving.
