Farm Bureau News Highlights Township Meetings Across Indiana

The Tippecanoe Township Farm Bureau met with 64 present at Pittsburg school as Cecil Pigg discussed the Carrollton chicken program and Wayne Hiatt spoke. Other townships held meetings at Flora New Hope and Delphi libraries featuring Barn yard Methods and 1940 farm outlook topics with musical numbers and readings. Refreshments were served and a Deer Creek session planned a pet and hobby club with a guest speaker and a one act play titled Assured.

County Hog School To Consider Trends

Farmers who raise hogs will receive practical ideas on feeding management and marketing at the Carroll county hog school in Camden community hall Feb 22. John Schwab of Purdue discusses feeds and pig ailments at 10 00 and Paul Mitchell of Purdue reviews hog production trends and 1940 prices. Afternoon talks cover feeding hogs for market protein supplements and factors affecting market prices.

Bohm, 47, Local Native, Dies at Home Near Logansport

Fred L. Bohm, 47, native of Carroll County, died Sunday at his Logansport home after a brief illness. Survived by his widow and three children, he was born to the late Peter J. and Mary Bohm and was a St. Joseph Catholic church member. Funeral 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph church with Monsignor Aichinger. burial in St. Vincent cemetery. Body moved from McCloskey mortuary to the residence Sunday evening.

Lebanon routs Delphi Oracles 56 to 17

The Lebanon team overwhelmed the Delphi Oracles Friday night with a strong defense and balanced scoring. Lebanon led 39 to 7 at halftime and all ten players scored, Shelby Morris and Richardson each had five baskets, Haun and Bowman hit two, while Cripe and Donald added baskets for a dominant win. Delphi’s second team fell 31 to 20.

Delphi Lodge Members Attend Crawfordsville Degree Work

Delphi Lodge No. 28 delegates traveled to Crawfordsville Monday night with the second degree staff to present degree work for a class of candidates. Last of 14 Siblings Dies in Carroll County

Mrs. Armilda Ellen Ann Allison aged 72 died Monday at her home southwest of Monticello Carroll County She was the last survivor of a 14 child family She belonged to the Hillsburg Methodist Church Surviving are her husband three sons six grandchildren and one great grandchild Funeral services were held Wednesday with burial in River View cemetery

NEW HIGHWAY BRIDGES FOR OLD HAZARDS

The State Highway Commission chair T A Dicus says replacement of narrow bridges with limited load capacity improves joint safety. Funds won't cover a large program, but progress continues. Bids will be opened February 27 for fifteen bridge projects replacing hazardous structures with safer approaches and fewer sharp curves.

The Jackson Township Home Economics Club held a February 8 Mothers and Daughters banquet at the K of P hall in Camden with Della Michaels and others planning the program. Mrs. Meade White Speaks At Carroll Tuberculosis Banquet

Mrs. Meade White executive secretary of the Howard County Anti Tuberculosis Committee spoke at the Carroll county Anti tuberculosis banquet Tuesday night in Delphi Methodist church parlors. She outlined tuberculin testing while township committee members and women attended. Reports were given by Mrs. Marie Wall Mrs. Mary Haugh and County Health nurse Esther Gregg. Eva Brown will sing and Margaret Harmon will read Fair Fit and Fifty.

County Students Vie For I. U. Scholarships

Carroll county principals select two candidates per school for state scholarships at Indiana University Purdue Indiana State and Ball State. Each award carries 71.50 in contingent fees at Indiana. Written exams occur late month. results announced in April. Last year 988 candidates vied for 200 IU scholarships. Charles Childers joins Hybrid Seed Company.
