Company officials left for a Chicago conference while crews advanced concrete work on Cedar Bluff. A cement car derailed near bunk house No 12 but caused no injuries. several workers were treated for injuries, and a new saddle back engine arrived for dam service as pouring resumes and diversions are completed.
The Delphi HI Y youth and Purdue men conference plans span Friday to Sunday with a 3:20 start Friday and a full schedule of assemblies meetings basketball and mass gatherings. The organizing committee includes Roger Mayhill John Smock Tom McCormick George Obear Tom McCain William Clauser George Wason W L Stinebaugh C T Amick Rev Eikenberry Paul Quick Charles Bowen Rev Kern and Rev Martinson.
Director Hines of the veterans bureau warns World War I soldiers that bonus insurance certificates cannot be sold and have no loan value now. Certificates are payable to the veteran or his beneficiary after 20 years, and naming a beneficiary for payment is illegal. After two years the certificates may secure a loan. Buyers are warned a veteran may later change a beneficiary.
A. B. Moon of Delphi fell thirty five feet when concrete slowed the chutes causing a slide. He sustained several bruises on his right leg and shoulder but the injuries are not severe.
A man fell between two rows of one inch reinforcing steel protruding about three feet. A foot to either side would have left him impaled. First aid was provided to the injured man, but a doctor's assistance was not required.
A Sunday fire in Camden destroyed a major business block headlined by the two story K of P building. Loss is about 50 000 with limited insurance, and ship records for the township may be unrecoverable. Fire protection from nearby towns aided in containment, while spectators viewed the ruins.
Representatives from schools across the ninth district will compete in the Ninth District Annual Music Memory Contest at Lebanon high school in the third week of March. Boone county schools hold a preliminary in early March. teams form from students not eliminated. Local and county contests precede the district event with forty selections chosen by a committee and performed in both meetings.
The order marks its anniversary on Wednesday evening February 18, 1925 with a program and basket dinner at 6 00. A committee will arrange the program and thirty outstanding bonds will be drawn and paid at the meeting open to Knights Pythian Sisters and their families.
A new Bridge club named The Dinner and Bridge Club has been organized in Delphi. Members include Mr. and Mrs. Fred Martin, Mr. and Mrs Abner Bowen, Mr. and Mrs Ralston Wilber, Mr. and Mrs Reid McCain, Dr. and Mrs L H Smith, and Mr. and Mrs R L Eckhart. The group meets biweekly on Friday evenings with a cooperative dinner at 6:30. The first meeting occurred Friday at the Eckharts home.
At Friday’s meeting the Carroll County Historical Society elected President Will Gros Vice president Harry Brewer and Secretary-Treasurer Mrs Charles Buckley. William C Smith presided retiring after two years. He helped founding the society and the centennial relic room at the courthouse. February meeting set for Feb 27.
The Tuberculosis clinic will be held in Delphi on Wednesday February 11 starting at 10 am. Dr Amos of Indianapolis will lead the specialist services. The meeting takes place in the courthouse and all examinations are free.
Mirs. Harry S. Brewer as new president names committee chairs for the year. Program chair is Mrs. W.T. Brackenridge, Publicity Mrs. Henry B. Wilson, Membership Mrs. May Sibbitt, civic work Mrs. John Todd, child welfare Mrs. James Wason, home economics Mrs. Grover Kite, and music Mrs. George Cartwright.
The American Legion Auxiliary met Thursday evening in their room. Regular business was transacted and a motion to serve the Chain was approved. Fourteen members were present.
The Tippecanoe Home Economics Club announces its next meeting with details continued on page eight. Members are reminded to check the continuation for time location and agenda.
The federal government selected Alderson West Virginia as the site for a new federal prison for women, over Delphi. Attorney General Harlan Stone and acting Labor Secretary E J Henning announced the recommendation last Saturday, with Alderson touted for proximity to Washington and railway access via the B and O line. The city will donate land and infrastructure including water tanks and a road to the site.
Monday morning marks the sale of lands with delinquent taxes. Some properties advertised have been cleared since notices, but the treasurer still faces a busy schedule keeping up with the remaining lots.
A satirical note on licensing trends mocks bills requiring licenses for professions from chiropodists to undertakers and doctors. The piece envisions future licenses for any drafted activity, blaming a paid board of examiners and a blank bill filed to justify licensing all crafts.

Col George H Healey directs a new Indianapolis company named Service Printing Co to conduct general printing and publishing. Healey, known in Delphi, formerly edited the Rensselaer Republican and the Frankfort Crescent and led the state printing department under McCray and Branch.
The county unit bill that would have made the county the unit for regulating schools and abolished trustees offices is dead due to indefinite postponement in the senate. The action, performed Wednesday, surprised many who believed the bill would pass this session.

The Chamber of Commerce meeting, normally on the first Thursday, was moved to Friday. The Banquet occurred at the Dame Hotel with an engaging speaking program promised.
A bill introduced by Representative J. Frank Smith would require a teacher to inform the pupil's parents or guardian before administering corporal punishment so they may be present to witness the incident.
