At the February meeting of Carroll county commissioners contracts were awarded for road materials. Democratic Women Elect New Officers

The Carroll County Democratic Club women met after the Jackson Day banquet and elected officers for the coming year. Mildred Brimm was chosen president with Carlyle Kirkpatrick Irvin Humes and Robert Logan as vice presidents. Funeral for Mrs. Mary Tribbitt Held at Rockfield Church

Delphi boxers won and lost in the third Golden Gloves card at Lafayette last night. Bill Wilson scored a technical knockout over his opponent after a series of head blows. Jumping Jack Thompson was knocked out in the first round by Jimmy Burke. Mrs L H Smith received a message Friday evening of the death of her brother George W Chapman at Hammond Louisiana. He was 51 years old and served in the Marines during World War I.

Old Man Winter keeps a tight grip on Indiana and much of the nation as two weeks of near record cold continue. Latshaw Rites Held for Rossville Farmer Jeremiah Latshaw

Funeral services for Jeremiah Latshaw 79 a farmer were held Sunday from the Church of the Brethren in Rossville with Rev Walter Replogle officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant View cemetery southwest of Rossville. Born September 27 1857 southeast of Rossville he was the son of Isaac and Barbara Latshaw and a member of the Rossville Church of the Brethren.

Mrs. Mary Hunter Dies Near Delphi

Mrs. Mary Hunter aged 77 died at her daughter’s home in Delphi route 3 after a fall caused a fractured left hip. Survived by two sons Robert and LeRoy a daughter Mrs Alread two half sisters Mrs Clara Harness of Wichita Kan and Mrs Pearl Crockett of Peru. Delphi Affected by Coal Shortage Strains Local Dealers

Local coal dealers report a citywide shortage with Delphi Ice, Coal & Supply Company the sole supplier still holding about 150 tons. Orders placed days ago remain unfilled as smaller communities reduce local supply and residents face limits of a half to a quarter of usual coal orders. The Haugh Coal Co expects two car loads of Indiana coal today.

Icy Roads Cause Of Truck Crash On 39

An icy road at the east end of the new bridge over the Wabash River in Pittsburgh caused a collision between a Kibler truck from Indianapolis and a smaller truck driven by Theodore Airhart. The Kibler truck, carrying A and P groceries, was driven by Meredith Williamson and sustained heavy front damage. Airhart’s truck left the pavement but did not overturn. Airhart was pushing a Pontiac driven by Albert Jackson at the time.
