In regular session the county board postponed action on Monroe township's $2900 relief claim after rejecting the initial filing. Trustee Glen Smith withdrew about $1000 and resubmitted, but no action was taken amid protests from several Monroe township taxpayers.
Local citizens explore using Civil Works funds to drain the historic canal long deemed too costly. The canal’s banks are cluttered with rubbish and stagnant water breeds mosquitoes, worsening health and hindering access. County Treasurer Robert F. Johnson announces all 1933 intangible stamps must be turned to the State Board of Tax Commissioners by January 10. Citizens holding unstamped intangible property requiring 1933 stamps should purchase them before the deadline.
Gerald Clawson of Clawson Chevrolet Sales returns from the GM proving ground praising the 1934 Chevrolet. He claims knee action wheels give a glide ride and notes he reached 82 miles per hour with no ping or noise. He urges readers to test drive five miles and compare to other cars. No trace has been found of the robbers who Saturday night broke into the filling station in South Delphi operated by John Bunnell. Miss Ruth Edgar an 18 year old Frankfort girl identified as a material witness in the slaying of Patrolman Wesley Wilson in Lafayette last June 16 is held in the local jail after transfer from the county jail. Frankfort shooting suspect Frank Richardson awaits January fifteenth for his murder trial in Lafayette. The state poised to seek the death penalty. defense details are not disclosed.
A crew of 507 men works on cleaning and redecorating county school buildings. Projects are active at Yeoman Madison Rock Creek Camden and Delphi while schools are on vacation. No new projects have been approved.
