Mrs Andrew Jackson 42 and Lloyd H Draper 37 both of Flora were in a collision on State Road 18 1000 feet east of the Monon crossing Tuesday evening. Jackson car hit from the rear by Draper both cars eastbound. Jackson vehicle $350 damage Draper $250. Draper cited for driving into or against property by Trooper Dale Douglass.
Russell Cole of Delphi was named custodian of the Carroll County Court House by the Board of Commissioners at a special meeting. Cole will assume duties January 1, 1958, replacing the retiring Lawrence Whistler who leaves due to age. The board also awarded county highway supply contracts for the next year with bidders list for tires, batteries, gravel, bituminous materials. several bids rejected.
About 145 residents of Washington township petitioned the trustee and advisory board for a special election to decide the fate of a proposed five township Carroll County School Consolidation involving Washington Burlington Carrollton Monroe and Democrat townships. The outcome will determine the consolidation plan pending the vote. The prior January February election in Democrat township approved consolidation.
Carroll county 4 H and FFA crop show runs at Delphi REMC auditorium starting Wednesday. Purdue experts John Dunbar and Keller Beeson speak on grain handling and fertilizer. Lloyd Miksell outlines ASC cost sharing. 200 plus crop exhibits showcased.
Richard Hicks of Carrollton township topped the county 4-H corn yield contest with 164 bushels per acre using Hobbs M13A seed as Harold Berry announces. Dozens of 4-H members posted yields, with Martha Schnepf second at 160 bushels and others ranging from 151 to 146 bushels. Awards include a County 4-H yield trophy to Richard and medals at the Achievement Night January 27 at the Delphi High School auditorium.
Camden high school will host a four team basketball tournament at its gym tonight and Friday. Officials include William Hile of Logansport and James Eads of Indianapolis. Tonight Burlington faces Deer Creek at 6 45 and Camden meets Cutler at 8 15. Friday features an opening consolidation game and a 8 15 championship tilt. Deer Creek holds 7 3, Camden 6 2, Cutler 3 5, Burlington 2 6.
Ten groups from Carroll County will host Christmas parties at Logansport State Hospital on Sunday afternoon December 22. Mrs. John T. Kirkpatrick of Delphi is state chairman and coordinates the parties with Lions Club American Legion and several sororities. Local clubs sponsor refreshments entertainment and gift distribution for patients. Mrs. Charles Kerlin reports over 700 gifts were delivered to the hospital last week.

Opal Short of Flora was granted a divorce from Lawrence Short on cruelty charges in Carroll circuit court. Wilbur Lane and William Briggs represented the plaintiff in the uncontested action.
More than 1500 youngsters from newborns to 12 years old are expected at the Legion Moose Christmas party tonight at 7 p m in the Delphi Armory. The program features clowns dogs acrobats and vaudeville acts arranged by Hal Halstead Rochester with Santa distributing treats after the show. Rev Loren Campbell will give the invocation Art McDowell will introduce the program Earl Sweet is general chairman assisted by Legion Moose members Gerber Plumbing Fixtures Inc helps cover party expenses.
A weight control program for the public starts Tuesday January 28 at 1 30 p m in the REMC auditorium Delphi The series runs five Tuesdays February 4 11 18 25 and March 4 designed by the Indiana Heart Foundation and Indiana State Board of Health to aid Carroll County residents in weight management Miss Miriam Eads Purdue extension specialist will lead the sessions with professional guidance on maintaining normal weight
The Delphi Junior High band will present a Friday December 20 11 a.m. concert for the senior high at the armory. The program features three numbers plus a cornet trio with Joe Smith a brass quartet and a saxophone quintet with listed players. Instrumental solos include Jack Klepinger on saxophone and David Goyer on accordion. Parents are invited. Officers of the junior band include Joe Smith president Mike Packard vice president Marcia Mason secretary treasurer Evan Berninger reporter.
All persons with claims against the county for 1957 must file with the auditor by December 20.

They exchanged vows Saturday evening December 14 at Monticello Methodist church with Earle Hawkins as sole attendant. The project is Power Sources for X ray Machines. Forty finalists win all expenses to Washington for Institute and judging for Westinghouse Scholarships and Awards.
Executor L M Pletcher filed accounts for the estate of Lillié Rankin Gros showing heirs paid an inheritance tax of 1154.28 dollars. The filing records detail the sum due and settled by the beneficiaries.
