Farmers Sign 1300 Contracts In Corn Hog Reduction Plan
Carroll county farmers across all thirteen townships signed about 1300 contracts to cut corn and hog production under a national agricultural division plan. Through county tabulators 1207 contracts counted with totals expected to reach 1300. Deer Creek led with 32 contracts. Clay and Madison had the fewest. Carrollton produced the most hogs. county quota was slightly high but nearer fulfillment than many counties. The plan aims to remove about 11 500 acres from corn and cut hog production by 24 000.

Presbyterians To Hold Brotherhood Meeting Tuesday

Post Office Adopts New Schedule Starting April 16
Beginning Monday April 16 the local post office will run a new schedule. All windows including stamp parcel post registry and money order open at 7 30 a m. Money order window closes at 5 p m and other windows at 6 p m. Rural carriers quit at 7 30 p m under the new hours.
Mrs Gertrude Reed Dies After Stroke in Lafayette
Mrs Gertrude Reed died Sunday morning at St Elizabeth hospital Lafayette after a stroke. Solemn Requiem was held at St Joseph church in Marion with Rev Clifford Reed son of deceased as celebrant. Burial followed at St Joseph cemetery beside her husband with about twenty five out of town clergymen in attendance.
