The People's Building and Loan Association of Delphi elected Paul Quick to fill the vacancy caused by Noah Landis's resignation. H. B. Wilson became president and Wm. C. Smith was named vice president of the association.
NOTICE G A R A special meeting of Boothroyd Post Grand Army of the Republic will be held Saturday April 11 in the G A R room Court House. Business of importance to be transacted and every member urged to attend. The county treasurer's office will close Saturday afternoon April 4 for the funeral of Ray Shaffer. Mrs. Ashba is a sister of the deceased.
Williams Coombs, jailed for manufacturing liquor, escaped from Carroll County jail after a search led to his arrest. He and three others dismantled a stair railing to break jail bars, prompting renewed pursuit and charges.
Indiana Township Trustees Association officers met at the Claypool Hotel on the 20th and decided to launch a monthly publication on school road ditch and general affairs. A large subscription list is ready and a publication contract has been signed with editors John E. Harper Morristown and Perry Rule Madison Twp. The effort may influence political and economic affairs of the state.
Lodges and clubs across the city cancel next week's meetings so attendees may participate in evangelistic services. Holy Week is observed by all churches and other organizations suspend activities to observe the days before Easter.
Carroll County history notes the 1849 California gold rush and Delphi emigrants. It cites names of migrants from Delphi and excerpts from letters by Christian Gros describing the 1850 journey by raft and boat to St. Louis and St. Joseph with a Daniel Boone and Confidence lines.
The County Federation of Clubs meeting planned for Cutler on April 10 is postponed to mid May after health officers advise delaying county meetings until the contagious disease epidemic in southern Carroll County ends.

Prosecutor John Rothrock who began his term January 1 is an aggressive official. His first major case was the Johnson murder trial in White County with a guilty verdict. William Coombs was sentenced in Carroll circuit court for liquor manufacture. Another conviction came in a Squire Musselman trial over selling mortgaged goods. He urges police to aggressively arrest violators and vows vigorous prosecution in court.
Miss Alice Cole aged sixty two died after being moved from Logansport to her brother's home in Camden where she passed away shortly after arrival. The funeral was held in Camden on Monday at 2 PM.
Henry Landis aged 74 died at his home southwest of Young America after a several week illness. He is survived by his widow one son Manford one brother John Landis and one grandson. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Wheeling Presbyterian Church with Rev. Young officiating and burial followed at Sharon Cemetery.

Delphi Country Club members and spouses met in the American Legion rooms for a dinner hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary. Myron Ives presided as new directors were elected to succeed several officers. The club, about 3300 in debt, formed a debt-clearing committee and planned a summer of social events plus a future banquet with wives as guests.
The marriage of Joyce B. Wilber and Miss Florence Emerson was announced. Wilber is the son of Mrs. T. B. Wilber of this city and Emerson hails from Chicago, Illinois. The ceremony was held Sunday, March 22.
Steve Beja popular Delphi businessman and Dorothy Kaufman of Hillsburg Indiana wed March 27 at the bride’s home. The couple now reside on West Franklin Street. Beja opened a cleaning and shoe repair shop three years ago and has earned many friends for his genial manner and efficient service.
Word comes to the Odell family of J C Odell that Rev T W T Noland of Falls Church Virginia has died. He was the brother of the late J C Odell and had visited Delphi often making many friends. He attended the golden wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Odell on Sept 11 1928. He was a pastor and a graduate of Louisville Theological School and Georgetown University. Surviving relatives include Miss Frances Noland Mrs Mary Clark B F Noland and Dr Frank Noland all in Virginia.
Ray Shaffer a 40 year old prominent farmer south of the city died after a Fordson tractor pinioned him beneath the rear wheel about 10 30 PM He was found conscious at 4 00 PM and died at 7 40 PM His death followed a plow collision with a stump and possible fall while recoupling the tractor He leaves a wife five children and several close relatives Funeral services will be held at the Delphi Methodist church with interment in the Masonic cemetery
Marion Johns seventy five died Tuesday night at his home southeast of Yeoman after a stroke of apoplexy. He was a Carroll County farmer with wide local acquaintance. Survived by widow and six children Emerson Delphi Harry and Clarence Yeoman Roy Kansas Mrs Albert Atkinson Mrs Guy Harvey Yeoman and Mrs Wilbur Gates Monticello area. Funeral held Friday in Yeoman with Rev Rause of the Yeoman M E church. burial in Yeoman cemetery.
George Brewer and Charles Bow en will lead a Sunday School program featuring the Purdue University Glee Club at the Presbyterian Church. The event takes place Wednesday evening, April 15.
