Navy pilot heads key Africa goodwill mission
Lt Cmdr Charles W McLaughlin led Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 6 aboard USS Inchon for a three month goodwill cruise to western Africa and South America. His crew shuttled officials including Liberia and Gabon presidents, while the mission aimed to foster relations. They were in total awe of the American Navy, the commander said, noting the first western Africa visit by a U.S. task group in a decade.
