Foster mother opens home to cocaine-affected infant in need
In Delaware County a newborn weighing four pounds arrived with cocaine in her system. Annette Davis runs a emergency shelter foster home caring around the clock. County funds support six providers under CYS to care for abused or neglected children while long term plans are arranged. Davis, named foster parent of the year, has sheltered many children since 1990 and describes the emotional and physical needs of the infants she helps. The program places older children with long term foster families as they await placement.

Mattus urges Blue Route six lanes to ease county traffic
Delaware County Council member Paul G. Mattus urged PennDOT to widen the Blue Route to six lanes along its entire length to relieve congestion through Swarthmore and Ridley. He criticized the 1961 plan to keep two lanes each direction between I-95 and West Chester Pike and noted ongoing idling pollution concerns.
