A tropical disturbance in the northwest Gulf of Mexico is strengthening and moving about 10 miles an hour. If it maintains its course it is expected to strike the Texas mainland east of Brownsville, prompting caution for vessels and evacuation warnings for remote coastal areas south of Galveston.

The prosecution released Mrs Herlich after about a day of questioning and said no evidence ties her to the death of 16 year old Edward Herlich, son of a former vaudeville performer. Police say Edward may have been fed poison for at least a week.

Del Rio and vicinity forecast fair tonight and Sunday. Yesterday’s high reached 92 degrees while the low was 71. This morning’s low near 70. East Texas coast sees rain with interior partly cloudy tonight. Sunday should be partly cloudy in the Northwest.
A wreck on a highway left four people dead and four others seriously hurt. Police and emergency crews responded to the scene and are investigating the crash causing inquiries into speed and possible driver error. Local hospitals treated the injured.
Four people died and four were injured in a collision four miles west of El Campo. Victims include Adolph Wegenhoft 52 Adolph Wegenhoft Jr. 5 months Vaida Holstein 17 Hillmer Dunlavy 26. Injured are Grace Wegenhoft J Led singer J P Handcock and Charles Kegler, all from Texas cities San Antonio Houston Columbus.
In Pittsburgh a Philadelphia report says investigators consider a garroting of Martin J. Feely wife and two children a triple murder. Coroner investigator John Artz supports an intruder theory while Feely and his brother argue the wife did not kill the children or herself. Police largely view it as a double murder with possible suicide.

A Chicago to Los Angeles train carrying 260 nurses for a Biennial Convention halted in Del Rio for 15 minutes. The visitors peppered residents with questions about weather, sheep ranching, local life, and nearby Mexico, expressing interest in a return visit.
Scores of armed officers swept a 30 mile area in a manhunt for three criminals who killed Prison Guard Felix Smith and escaped from the Prison Farm in Texas. The suspects are Luke Trammel Forrest Gibson and T B Atkinson, who rode off on two mules and a horse after reporting for plowing Friday morning. No word has been heard since.
OZONA, June 204 The record lamb crop of the state and of the century for a flock of its size is believed to have been made on the John Fogarty place in Crockett County. Bob Weatherby, inspector for the Wool Growers Central Storage Company of San Angelo, counted 1848 ewes and 2226 lambs, a 120.45 per cent lamb crop. The lambs are said to be doing well.
Madison Wis June 20 The United States Forest Service reports plastic materials derived from sawdust may solve mill waste. The Forest Service laboratory at Madison has developed processes to convert sawdust into a molding powder that forms dense durable sheets disks and shapes by hot pressing. This plastic could become a low cost machinable building material comparable in price to lumber per square foot.
John N. Garner acts as official U S representative at the Pan American highway inauguration to Mexico City. A goodwill caravan organized by the Mexican Consul General in San Antonio plans a July 10 departure for a three week visit, with 156 cars max and registration open to July 3.
Washington June 20. Al Capone former Chicago beer baron was denied parole from Alcatraz Island penitentiary. He serves a ten year sentence for income tax law violations.
The Federal Power Commission announced plans to establish regional offices in New York and Atlanta on June 20, expanding its presence to the East Coast and the Southeast.
Washington June 20 The Senate scheduled to vote on a motion to consider the Guffey coal bill while the House accepted the Senate subsidy measure ending a session-long jam. With the tax bill nearly resolved, remaining must measures face action as Congress moves toward adjournment. The subsidy bill limits construction to 56 percent of cost and allows operators to borrow half the rest. Both chambers aim to clear the treasury post office appropriation bill.
