George Netts son of Mr and Mrs Jas C Netts and a United States Naval Academy student will sail June 5 aboard the battleship Oklahoma for a diplomatic cruise. The voyage begins with seven days in Portsmouth England followed by six days in Gothenburg Sweden and six days in Cherbourg France. After weeks of maneuvers in South Atlantic waters Netts will disembark August 7.
A Texas A M College faculty member and assistants set up the first of three blow fly research stations near Eldorado to study infection causes and fly migrations as part of a $460,000 effort. The plan includes a Brackettville station and a Rio Grande Valley site, with Roosevelt expected to sign the appropriation.
Miss Dorothy Langford daughter of Mr and Mrs I J Langford escaped serious injury Sunday afternoon when her car wrecked on Highway No 3 east of the San Felipe Creek east fork. The coach swerved on a curve and turned over several times leaving her thrown clear of the vehicle. She was brought to her home at 106 Avenue I suffering from shock and bruises.
The House Investigating Committee heard that the Townsend organization was in a deplorable condition and needed reorganization. Charlie S Hawkes testified after being subpoenaed, saying Dr Townsend telephoned him from Boston urging him to disregard the subpoena and not testify.
The British liner Queen Mary completed her first transatlantic voyage and entered New York harbor but did not beat the Normandie’s maiden crossing speed. Unofficially her average was 29.13 knots versus the Normandie’s 29.64 knots.
A federal jury awarded Alen Construction Company $6,766 against the City of Del Rio for breach of contract on a $67,660 water works extension project. City officials argued the deal hinged on a PWA loan and that they financed and performed the work themselves after delays.

Edward Harrison assisting. Louise Turner led music, including Praise Ye the Father and Graduation March. High school graduates: Alice King, Gaile Bode, Mary Rose Marini, Hallie Owen, Mary Lucille Stewart, Edith Harrison, Angela De Leon. Grammar school graduates: Dorothy Farrell, Katharine Bonner, Georgia Miers, Olga Salvatierra, Lupe Gonzalez.
E B Burke Rose announced his candidacy for Val Verde County Democratic chairman subject to the July 25 1936 primary. A lifelong Democrat he pledges active service and to act in the party's best interests if elected.
Birth of a second set of triplets at Piedras Negras within a year was reported May 25 to the municipal registrar. Three girls arrived at Hipolito de Luna’s home with no medical aid. one baby died after birth. The first trio, two girls and a boy, were born last year to Mr and Mrs Cipriano Valdes.

Fischer helped strike down NIRAs oil provision in a Supreme Court case. He is a West Virginia native and Oklahoma farm youth who studied law on the family farm.
Douglas Newton assumed the duties of county attorney for Val Verde County on Monday succeeding W P Wallace Jr who resigned effective June 1. The term ends December 31 1936 and Newton will seek election subject to the Democratic primary July 25. He was slated to try a liquor case Monday afternoon before the County Court.
