Two residents were missing as Granada Colorado faced 18 inches of flood water. Highways and railroads were washed out while all 400 residents evacuated as Wolf and Granada Creeks rose. Arkansas River rising. Lamar flood level near. Weather threats extended toward northwestern Kansas and southwestern Nebraska.
In Memphis on May 39, three buildings on North Main Street including two four story structures under razing collapsed burying a number of people. Police firefighters and volunteers cleared debris while several persons remained missing as investigators sought the cause.
Leonie Meyer of Huntington Park California led at 300 miles in the 500 mile race in Indianapolis on May 30.7 Ted Horn of Los Angeles was second and William Cantion of Detroit third. Meyer averaged over 111 mph and broke Babe Stapp's 1933 record. Several drivers were forced out.
Marlin Negress reports Sylvia King 131, a pipe smoking grandmother, born Christmas Day 1804 in France, came to Texas as a slave, helped pioneer the state, and remains active on a farm near Marlin. Neighbors recall her strength and fishing prowess amid fading memory. Reports from Buenos Aires note revolutionaries rising against the government.
Former President Herbert Hoover announced he would attend the Republican national convention in Cleveland on Wednesday June. He said he would travel from Palo Alto California for the event and participate in the party gathering.
Eldorado wool clip valued at forty thousand pounds of 12 month wool belonging to Thomson Bros and Lawhorn sold Friday night for the highest price in the Southwest since 1929. Wright Bros bought the lot at 33 to 34 cents per pound averaging just over 33.5 cents.
In Kiel on May 30 German officials led by Hitler celebrated the 20th anniversary of the battle of Jutland. The Imperial war flag, though legally non-existent, flew over the revived Nazi navy as Hitler listened to three addresses praising his re creation of the fleet.
In Jerusalem on May 30 one Arab was killed and three wounded as rioters set fires in several communities. Stores were burned and property damaged including four Jewish shops in Jaffa. Firemen trying to extinguish the flames were bombed.

Del Rio High School held its graduation Friday with Dr. W. D. Wiggins of El Paso urging graduates to pursue work as a path to security and happiness. He warned that education costs the community and nation, and praised progress over clinging to the past.
The British Queen Mary and the French Normandie, trans Atlantic contenders, exchanged wireless greetings aboard the Queen Mary on May 30. They failed to sight each other as the Queen Mary set a 24 hour record but trailed the Normandie by two minutes of maximum speed.
Miss Effie Crain niece of Mrs T A Wilson of Del Rio died Friday in San Antonio. Services were at Ludwig Funeral Home San Antonio at 1 pm and final rites at 3 pm in Moore Texas officiated by Rev Bolton Boone and F H Crockett. Survived by her parents Mr and Mrs P M Crain of Moore two sisters Mrs Elmer Warren and Mrs F B Biles and two brothers P L Crain and Henry Crain of San Antonio.
MOSCOW May 30 The all Union Soviet control committee today abolished employment discrimination against classes privileged under the Czarist regime. The order removes bars to employment for former members of the nobility and merchants. It is described as a sign of the growth of Soviet Democracy.
Centerville Missouri May 30 Robert Bobby Camden known as Robin Hood of the Ozarks pleaded guilty to the murder of Reverend James A Radford. Circuit Judge E M Dearing sentenced Camden to life imprisonment today.
Memorial Day services at Westlawn Cemetery in Del Rio decorated war dead with flags placed by the American Legion and flowers by the American Legion Auxiliary. Dr. J A McDonald urged callers to report any missed graves for prompt decoration with flag and flowers.
Mrs. Benjamin Scott Young says she was forcibly ejected from the Zionchecks apartment by the representative and his wife. She was taken to an emergency hospital with an injured hip, which she contends resulted from the scuffles with the Zionchecks.
Marcelino, a federal prisoner held for illegal entry, underwent an appendix operation at Williams Sanitorium Thursday and is reported improving nicely by authorities.
Haile Selassie emperor of a lost empire arrived at Gibraltar as a private citizen from Palestine aboard the British cruiser Capetown. British authorities exchanged courtesies with him aboard and he went ashore to recover from seasickness. He plans to continue his trip to England on Sunday.
