Albert Carlson was involved in a head on collision with another car just outside St. Charles Sunday afternoon. Both vehicles were badly smashed and the Carlson car was left where it stood while the occupants returned home by train. None were injured though shaken. exact cause not known.
Deputy Coroner J P Jefferson or Leland hears inquiry into the death of George L Miller, a bandit killed Tuesday morning behind E Erickson Sons farm equipment and auto supply store at Leland. Lon Miller of Converse Ind telegraphed for a detailed description, saying he believes the slain man may be his son. The coroner wired back a description but has not received a reply.
A minor wreck on the North Western near Flagg today derailed two freight cars but caused little damage and only a brief traffic delay. The notice then shifts to a cinema advertisement for William Faversham in The Man Who Lost Himself at Princess Playhouse with showings tonight at 7 30 and 9 10.
At a recent board meeting the supervisors voted down an offer from Highway Commissioner Bradt to build a three foot shoulder on each side of the Sycamore road with the state supplying material and half the labor. DeKalb township will proceed with the project using township funds for about a mile and a quarter, with the remainder in Sycamore and Cortland townships. Work will start once materials are available.
Rev. K. K. Jacobson of Lind Mountain Michigan, formerly pastor of the Swedish church here, is in DeKalb today and will lead services at 7:45 tonight. He served this church about five years and is renewing old acquaintances during a brief visit before resuming travel home from a Western states vacation.
Telephone company line men are at work along West Lincoln highway installing a new cable and repairing the old line. The route extends beyond the normal school dormitory and the project has been much needed for years. Work is well advanced and completion is expected soon.

United Press dispatch from Detroit reports Henry Ford announced an average price reduction of 142 per car to near pre war levels. Ford cites material shortages hindering production and says the cut will be immediate, with no wage changes at Ford plants. The move may influence prices of other cars per Detroit auto men.
The American Steel and Wire band surprised leader Tinson A Reed with a half hour outdoor concert on College avenue last night. Tubas saxophones drums and more filled the Reed home lineup as Mr Reed, recovering from an appendicitis operation, watched from his window and smiled at the tribute. He is said to be improving and expected to be brought downstairs today.
Frank Fuller township commissioner plans to improve the south Malta road by adding crushed rock to fill the worst spots after culvert work. He notes farmers will still use the route once a cement road opens, but funds limit full completion. Work on the road will start after culverts are finished.
Washington Sept 21 The senate committee on inquiry into campaign funds will resume sessions to investigate alleged German propaganda in the United States. The panel will exam agencies that spread Teuton propaganda during the war and reports of a Sinn Fein propaganda fund will also be reviewed.
A large crowd on Fourth Street and Lincoln Highway laments a broken public drinking fountain damaged after an auto collision. Repairs were delayed as a replacement fountain has been ordered but arrival date is unknown. The new unit will match the old model.
