Mr and Mrs B C Knodle returned from a four weeks vacation at Chain Lakes Wisconsin where he caught fine fish and enjoyed the trip. Mr and Mrs C W Hummel and their daughter came home from a three weeks vacation in Iowa.
Paul Ritzman found his bike stolen during a ball game. Police searched and Frank Addison recovered the wheel left at the country end of Tenth Street. Suspects face stiff fines if caught.
Adjutant General Frank S Dickson will headline a Republican rally Friday night at eight near Third and Locust streets. A special band concert precedes the speech as the party aims to unite old members and recruit new ones with an expected crowd of about 1500 people. The event is billed as the citys liveliest rally in years attracting attendees from across party lines.

Albany New York September 20 The legislature met in special session tonight to address the housing situation and to vote on accepting or rejecting the five socialist members of the assembly expelled last spring on disloyalty charges. The socialists were reelected in a New York special election held last week.

Fite G. Rossman of Lynnville township died at his Ogle county farm home yesterday morning. Born October 28, 1817 in Schoharie County New York he would have turned 103 this year. He moved across Michigan to Winnebago and later Lynnville in 1864. ten children were born, five died earlier. Surviving grandson John G. Boyle. Funeral at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Cres ton area home.
A seven day survey in 494 Illinois towns shows 10 percent of cars remained idle from the first to last day. Illinois Central President H Markham says delays stem mainly from shippers loading or unloading slowly and urges faster loadings. Secretary Thompson has notified 87 county farm bureaus to press prompt loading and unloading to speed car movement.

Indianapolis Sep 26 Thousands of veterans at the 34th annual G. A. R. convention found hotels and homes full and slept in tents on the old camp ground. The housing committee secured quarters in the state house schools barracks and other buildings. About thirty thousand arrived today and up to a hundred thousand were expected by midweek.
Kansas City dispatch notes corn for September delivery fell to 99 1/2 cents a bushel in a market drop not seen since 1917. Expanded country offerings and ongoing supplies pushed prices lower as traders reacted to ample supply and changing demand expectations.
