United Press reports the Illinois Commerce Commission denied the proposed gas rate hike for Belvidere DeKalb Sycamore Sterling Rock Falls Nelson Genoa and Dixon and set new stepped rates effective October 1. Belvidere DeKalb and Sycamore tiers show reductions and prepayment meters priced at 1.85 per thousand for DeKalb and Sycamore. The company sought a uniform 25 cent rise. the ruling preserves lower rates in several towns.
