Elevators Back Grain Marketing Plan Across District
At a meeting of 175 farmers Farm Elevator Managers and Farm Bureau officers the grain marketing program outlined by the Illinois Agricultural Association was approved. Charles Adkins Director of Agriculture traced the Farmers Elevator movement eight and a half years back noting 610 cooperative elevators exist. Local leaders including F A Mudie G E Mellen W Hop and A H Dyart voiced strong support saying the plan would stabilize markets and prices and benefit producers and consumers. The shortage of railcars and financing needs were discussed with bankers offering aid. Meetings followed in Monmouth Galesburg and Peoria.
