De Kalb leaders plan broader city Y M C A for youths
An informal gathering at First Congregational church discussed a wide community building to serve De Kalb youths and possibly women, with no firm plans. A public meeting is set for next Monday December 16 to form a broader, nonsectarian Y M C A including men from all faiths and local life.

Roberts Farm Sale At Fourth Street Road
Frank Roberts, a farmer living a mile south of the city on Fourth street road, announces a farm sale on Thursday December 12 starting at one o clock. News from Sycamore reports Arthur Johnson, once of DeKalb and Belvidere, wounded in France after enlisting from Belvidere. He joined the band in Sycamore, later moved to Texas with the regiment, served in other duties, and had ties to Mrs Uno Anderson. His father once ran a local ray business about 20 years ago. He belonged to the 129th regiment.

Death of A G Beckman After Rockford Injury
A G Beckman, longtime DeKalb resident, died at Swedish American Hospital Rockford after a Tuesday accident at Rockford Drop Forging. A flying blade fragment pierced him near the liver causing internal injuries. he previously improved briefly but then worsened. He was 52, born in Sweden, and survived by sister Mrs. Carl Erickson and brother John G. Beck of DeKalb. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 1:30 PM from the Beckman home at 1121 Strate Street.
