Wallace Day Picnic Draws National Figures To DeKalb

A DeKalb community event features a busy schedule at Annie's Woods with a Demonstration, a stock judging contest, an address to women by Mrs. George Plummer, a band concert, an address by Henry C. Wallace, a horseshoe tournament, and a Hinckley versus DeKalb baseball game. Secretary Wallace will arrive on the 9:00 train, and Mrs. Plummer will speak at 10:30 to the women while men attend the field demonstration. Free educational movies will run at the Star theatre, with paid features at the Princess. Normal playground supervision and local store decorations are planned for a welcoming day of activities.

Four Indicted for Theft of Automobile in Aurora

James McGlenn Lee Gilbert Louis Woodard and Arnold Blake were charged with stealing Carl Berthold automobile and driving to Des Moines Iowa. They were arraigned before Justice James Galvin at Aurora and pleaded not guilty to larceny. They were held to the grand jury under $2 000 bonds.

Ptomaine Mar Feast to Cement Friendship

Forty Manitowoc residents including officials and families were seriously ill after a banquet in Sheboygan to strengthen ties between the two cities. Doctors say ptomaine poisoning caused the illness following the dinner hosted by Sheboygan citizens.

Reports from Belfast and Cork detail renewed clashes between Sinn Fein and Loyalists with fourteen casualties and several deaths. In Cork area nearly 500 Sinn Fein prisoners on Spike Island begin a hunger strike to demand unconditional release, citing Irish Civil Courts decisions. A new American steel office opens in a renovated Methodist church building at Fourth and Locusts streets with an on-site hospital, employment office, classroom, and rest facilities.

New Timetable for Aurora Line September 1

A revised schedule for the Chicago Aurora and DeKalb line takes effect September 1. Weekdays show departures from Deblb at 7 30 a m and 1 3 and 3 20 6 30 8 1 and 11 45 p m with Saturday trips at 4 pm. Aurora service runs 6 15 am 9 am 12 pm 2 pm 5 pm 8 pm 10 30 pm and a Sunday special at 2 pm. The shuttle changes start Thursday morning.

Normal Museum Open Tomorrow at DeKalb School

Arthur F. Zimmerman a Milwaukee window cleaner fell about 120 feet from a window and drowned after unfastening his harness. He left wife Winnifred Foreman and two young children Dorothy 4 and Gerald 2. Funeral held for his parents in Milwaukee.
