Defiance Knights of Columbus hold multi city initiation banquet
Defiance Council No 1039 Knights of Columbus welcomed 300 members from Toledo Ft Wayne Tiffin and other cities. The day featured a 65 candidate first degree at the Pythi hall high mass at St Mary's then second and third degrees at the hall. A banquet at the rink followed with speeches by Fr O Connell James P Eagan and others praising Catholic citizenship and modern chivalry.

Hummer Resigns After Police Strain and Incident
Police Officer Peter Hummer will resign after a Sunday night incident in which he, intoxicated and suspicious, forced Neil Tuttle's help to locate his wife. The affair followed a quarrel at Hummer’s home and prompted a star chamber review by Mayor Cameron and the board of public safety.

Resolutions Adopted by Fort Defiance Lodge on Loss of N Brechbill
At a September 8 1905 meeting Fort Defiance lodge No 134 unanimously adopted a memorial for N Brechbill noting his aid to the needy and his upright life and offering sympathy to his family. The resolutions, to be recorded and sent to the family and local newspapers, reflected the lodge’s high regard and mourning. A Friday night collision on the B and O railroad at Kimmell near Garrett, involving No. 14, killed four and seriously injured twenty or more. A switch engine misaligned to the main track caused the crash. the No. 14 engineer and fireman died along with others on board.
