Mrs Stuyvesant Fish:America’s leading society innovator
The Newport social leader, wife of Mr. Fish, set style for millionaires with bold entertainments. She staged cakewalks, yacht themed dinners, peace ball, and theatricalities, funding arts students and supporting opulent gatherings while critiquing Newport’s faux pretensions. She blends philanthropy with dramatic, costly spectacle.
